I had to put what I learned from Dawn to good use, so was relieved to have done the course. A friend’s son choked at our beach house, so I did the Heimlich on him to dislodge it. Have to say I burst into tears afterwards at the shock of it all! But it worked and I did remember what had to be done, even with 4 other adults screaming at me to “thump him”. I watched in horror as my young fella reached for a hot cup of tea someone had left right on the edge of a table. I called out loudly to him to stop but he ignored me and the hot tea poured over him before I could reach him. I immediately followed your teaching, removed his clothes and got water running over him. He was not happy about it, but I persisted. When we got to the doctor half an hour later, the doctor examined him and said that he was thrilled to hear what I had done because he expects 3rd degree burns from boiling tea. There was virtually no sign of any burn. A day later there was literally no effect. Thank you so much for teaching me what to do. Nina, September 2007
