About Us

Dawn Molloy, a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 7, has been a Registered Nurse as well as a mother for well over 30 years. You may well understand then, why she has long been passionate about keeping kids as safe as possible.

A few years ago, while Dawn was delivering the 2 day, OSH-accredited, certified First Aid courses, she often had people say to her that they could afford neither the time nor the fee involved in such courses, and nor did they need the intensity, but that they would love to be able to do a basic First Aid course if only such a thing were available.

Research indicated that there was no such course, and so Dawn and husband Paul spent many months developing one. The aim was to retain full professionalism, but narrow down the content by focusing mainly on issues likely to be relevant in a family situation. Then over the next few months the course was delivered to a selected range of people, so that it could be polished and honed in response to feedback.

The result was A Practical Approach to Family First Aid, (now called FamilyCare First Aid), a 2 hour course covering key subjects of particular interest to parents of young children.

By mid 2009, over 2,000 people have been trained by Family First Aid, mainly in the Auckland and Waikato regions, and demand has led to the development of several supplemental courses, each with a slightly different focus.

The intention is to take the courses nationwide in future.

The same passion has led to a search for appropriate safety-related products, and the range of those is expected to expand in the near future.

Our mission: To eliminate accidental child deaths in the home, resulting from lack of knowledge on the part of a parent or carer.

Our goal: To bring practical First Aid training within reach of everyone in New Zealand.
